Afra Sweet, as one of the subsidiaries of Afra Integrated Food Value Chains Holding, plays a key role in the development of the sugar and sweetener industry in Iran.
Scope of Activity: Afra Sweet’s primary operations include processing, refining, packaging, and distribution of sugar-derived products. In recent years, substantial investments have made it one of the most critical and vital links in the country’s food industry value chain.
Production Capacity: Currently, Varamin Sugar Refinery and Novin Khalij Fars Sugar Company, located at Imam Khomeini Port, operate under Afra Sweet with a daily capacity of 2,200 tons . Their activities include refining, producing, and packaging raw sugar, sugar cubes, and more, in various volumes for both industrial and commercial use (B2B) and household consumption (B2C).
Future Plans: In the near future, Afra Sweet plans to launch corn processing plants to produce glucose, fructose, and other valuable downstream products—expanding its valuable role in this part of the Afra integrated food chain.

Varamin Sugar Refinery Company
Varamin Sugar Refinery is one of the oldest factories in the sugar industry in Iran.

Land and Location: The plant is located in Varamin County, on a land area of 15 hectares, and is active in importing raw sugar, packaging white sugar, sugar cubes, and soybeans .
Employment: Currently, over 120 individuals are directly employed at this facility.
Production Capacity: The packaging capacity of the factory, based on weight and package types, is as follows:
- 900g and 1kg Sugar (poly packs): 70 tons/day
- 700g and 1700g Sugar Cubes (poly), 5kg (nylon and carton packs): 50 tons/day
- 200g Soybeans (poly packs): 30 tons/day
Novin Khalij Fars Sugar Company
Novin Khalij Fars Sugar Company is one of the most important and valuable subsidiaries of Afra Sweet. It was established with the aim of refining raw sugar and producing white sugar, and to reduce the country’s dependency on imports of this strategic product.

As its first operational initiative, the company invested in the design and construction of a raw sugar refinery within the logistics zone of Imam Khomeini Port Special Economic Area, a project that has been underway in recent years.
- Investment Volume: A large portion of the machinery and equipment for the production lines and supporting units of this major national project has been sourced from international suppliers, and substantial foreign and domestic capital has been allocated by Afra Sweet.
- Land and Capacity: The factory is being built on a site of approximately 21 hectares, with an annual refining and production capacity of 1 million tons of white sugar, implemented in two phases. Phase 1 is over 80% complete and is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of 2026.
- Employment: Upon completion, the project will directly employ over 550 individuals .
- Future Plans: The project design includes the development of a large-scale corn processing center, with a target production of 2,400 tons (in 2 phases) of various processed products such as glucose, fructose, and valuable by-products including fiber, gluten, corn oil, and biofuel (bioethanol) .
